MISSION. In compliance with one of our commitments to steer in a direction that foresees social sustainability and stability and contribute to a physically and mentally healthy community, Platinum Group Metals Corporation (PGMC), through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department, launched its Panambay’ng Gimugna para sa Mahimsog na Clavernon, a weekly medical outreach program intended to the ten (10) non-mining barangays of Claver, Surigao del Norte, last September 4 at Brgy. Magallanes.
UNVEILING. The debut of the program was graced by PDDG Geary L. Barias, VP for Security and CSR, Hon. Rosemarie M. Gokiangkee, Municipal Mayor of Claver, Surigao del Norte, Zaldy J. YU, CSR Department Head and his staff, Col. Wilredo Reyes, Mine Security Officer, Roland E. Mira, MD and his medical staff together with PGMC’s Head Nurse, Melody P. Ruaya, RN. The medical team’s plan has been carefully laid out to make sure that the weekly program would turn out perfectly as planned. The Barangay Health Workers were tasked to pre-arrange and pre-list the patients with minor to major medical conditions to make sure that the medical team knew who to prioritize.
MEDICAL OUTREACH. Brgy. Magallanes: September 4, Brgy. Wangke: Septmeber 11, Brgy. Panatao: September 17, Brgy. Tayaga: September 25, Brgy. Bagakay: October 2, Brgy. Ladgaron: October 9, Brgy. Daywan: October 16, Brgy. Cabugo: October 23, Brgy. Sapa: October 30, Brgy. Lapinigan: November 6.
1st QUARTER ASSESSMENT. The day to celebrate not only the success of the program but also the camaraderie between PGMC and the recipient communities came to a realization on a sunny and beautiful day, November27 at Fiesta Diving Resort and Hotel, Ipil, Surigao City. The assessment program was attended by PDDG Geary L. Barias, Zaldy J. Yu and CSR staff, Roland E. Mira, MD and his medical staff, Ma. Melody P. Ruaya, RN and nine (9) among ten (10) of the non-mining Barangay Captains of Claver together with their respective Barangay Midwives. The assessment program flooded with overwhelming appreciation and commendation for the company’s unending effort to reach out and nurture the people of Claver. Though, the attendance of the Barangay Captains and Midwives already spoke volume as their mere presence during the event indicated that despite their hectic schedules, they came to show gratitude to PGMC on its effort to contribute to a healthier and better Claver. PDDG Barias concluded the event by emphasizing that a healthy community is only attainable through the joint effort of the community as a whole. He also announced that the Medical/Surgical Mission will push through in CY 2013 to cater the medical needs of the patients who were already pre-listed for surgery.
CONTINUATION. The weekly medical outreach program is still on the ramp as the CSR Department and the company’s medical team continues to visit the non-mining barangays of Claver for the 2nd quarter of Panambay’ng Gimugna para sa Mahimsog na Clavernon.
