Platinum Group Metals Corporation’s (PGMC) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a voluntary initiative recognizing its responsibility to mitigate the impact of the mining activities toward the people and the environment. It advocates responsible mining as a vehicle to uphold constant community development.

Moored by the objective to gauge the situation of the people within Caraga Region, identified as the mining capital of the Philippines, where mining activities have had significant impact to the host and neighboring barangays and even to the non-mining communities, CSR Department laid out concrete strategies to address issues and concerns of the directly and indirectly affected communities within the region. CSR Department started the Community Visit and Assessment Program since October of 2012. This is to encourage environmental awareness, protection and propagation, promote health awareness, support educational advancement and formulate livelihood programs emphasizing its importance during and after the mining operations. The outcome of the Community Visit and Assessment Program became the basis in the formulation of programs beneficial not only to the residents of Claver but to the whole communities in Caraga Region.

The partnership between the CSR team and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Claver, Surigao del Norte, paved way to the realization of CSR Department’s programs for the calendar year 2013.

CSR Department will launch its Heath Education Livelihood Propaganda – People (HELP – PEOPLE) Program this year which includes, but not limited to, the continuation of the Medical Outreach Program tagged as Panambay’ng Gimugna para sa Mahimsaog an Clavernon (PGMC), Operation Tuli and Dental Mission, 2013 Medical and Surgical Mission, Scholarship Program, Balik Eskwela Program, Computer Literacy Program, Livelihood Programs comprising of the Integrated Farming Bio System (IFBS) tagged as Pag – amuma sa Kinaiyahan, Giya sa Malambuong Claver (PGMC) and Soap Making Business tagged as Prosperity and Growth for the Mothers of Claver (PGMC).

The team will continue to visit different communities and remain forthright on our mission to convey our responsibility to step beyond obligation.
